Hard to remember, but there was something about a lighthouse that my uncle and aunt owned. My mom and I take a boat to the island where the lighthouse is and stay there for a vacation. A man works on the grounds who looks strikingly similar to Gary McKinnon.

Something happens. Either a really bad storm is coming or the island is going to be under attack. Mom, my aunt, uncle, cousin and I get into a truck being driven by the grounds keeper that will take us to safety. I look at the groundskeeper and lean over to my mom and say, “I always thought he was really cute.”

Mom scoffs and says, ”he’s wearing a fake mustache,” even though he’s not.

The truck starts and we go down the main street of the island. Everyone is in panic and the street is crowded. We get stopped outside a popular ice cream stand and the guy behind the stand asks, “what will it be? Chocolate with sprinkles?”

I notice the traffic is moving and I say, ”sorry, no time.”

We get to the marina and run through an enclosed dock. It’s only us and a few other people including a man all in black who looks so familiar. He apparently works at the docks.

Before we load onto the boat, the man in black says, “wait, I can’t leave without my cross. I’ll go nowhere without it.” I look up at a rafter above my and see a bulky silver cross hanging from a dainty silver chain on a nail. He gives me the cross to hold on to while he helps with loading trunks onto the boat. I put it on and when I do, it’s no longer a bulky silver cross but a flat, rectangular silver pendant with a cross shaped indentation on the front that is painted in green.

An old white steamer trunk with rusty hardware that’s obviously mine is sitting open beside the boat. Mom says something along the lines of, “now be careful. Make sure there’s nothing in there that you can’t bear to lose. They’re going to lift it up by crane but it may not work.”

I pack up things so that they’re strapped down tight and close it, then a crane hook picks it up by a large hook that’s protruding out of the side that’s obviously not part of any real old trunk. Half way up, the trunk falls into the water. I scream and jump in after it. The lid comes off but everything is still in place.

I can’t remember the rest of the dream.
